While we were fully aware that this restaurant served traditional cuisine and our expectations were fairly low, I must indeed say that me and my wife were disappointed. We have visited very many simpler restaurants in France serving same type of ”a la campagne”, rustique meals, so we know what we are talking about. For the price, even in Paris, you should expect better food. In addition, lack of ambiance, extremely crowded between tables, no good house wine. Not a pure tourist trap but neither far from.
This is some of the best and most authentic French food we have experienced for over 20 years. While we are usually here for 3 months, we come frequently. The serveurs Julien and David, sons of founder Henri, are charming. The patrons are mostly French so not too many tourists. The salmon and the sea bass are beautifully prepared. Everything is very reasonably priced. Make a reservation online as it’s a small and centrally-located family-run restaurant with about 12 tables.
Our starters - grilled peppers and salad w goat cheese & honey were very good; our entrees not so much. We were seated in a narrow area by the door; other customers had to squeeze past to get in or out. Very loud environment, not conducive to conversation.
